The hazard
Driving is part of the job for a lot of us, and it is easy to treat it like a break. A vehicle is heavy equipment moving at speed, and one bad second can hurt you or someone else. Good habits on every trip are what get everyone home.
The action
Put your phone out of reach before you start the engine. Set your GPS and music before you move, and pull over somewhere safe if you need to call or text. Eating, reading paperwork and reaching for things on the floor take your eyes and mind off the road too.
ASK THE CREW
What distracts you most when you drive for work, and how can we cut it out?
Takeaway: Phone away, belt on, speed down, and check your vehicle before you roll.
